Scouting Report

Arm Strength

Griffin displays tremendous arm strength when he works the ball vertically down the field.  He has the ability to put good zip on his passes and can make the throws outside the numbers.  Although he has a cannon arm, he also has shown to put good touch on the short to intermediate passes as well.

Accuracy

Griffin showed great accuracy in college and can fit the ball into tight windows.  This was a combination of the offense in which he played as well as his pure physical abilities.  The NFL will have smaller windows and less space for the WRs to work, but Griffin’s decision making is top notch which will lead to less bad decisions.

Mobility

Griffin is one of he most gifted athletes in the entire draft.  He will move around outside the pocket to have cleaner lanes to throw or will just take off running.  He is a special player due to his mobility and will make plenty of big plays with his feet at the next level.

Potential Landing Spots

Colts (1) This spot is most likely reserved for Andrew Luck, but stranger things have happened.

Redskins (2) They didn’t trade up for anyone else.  Could be the perfect fit in the Shanny offense.

Final Word

Griffin is a special talent in the mold of Michael Vick and Cam Newton, although he is his own man.  He has a NFL arm, track star speed, and is an accurate passer as well.  Many have said that he could end up being better than Andrew Luck, but Luck is one of the most “no miss” QBs to come along every few seasons.  From a fantasy perspective Griffin could make an immediate impact a la Cam Newton as a team like the Redskins really need an injection of excitement on offense.  Depending on how fast he can pick up a NFL offense will determine his value this season.  He should be drafted high in dynasty leagues and could be a late round flier in 12 man re-draft leagues.
